We recently talked about Daredevil in our latest episode. You can find that here, or check out his origins below:

Daredevil and Matt Murdock first appeared in Daredevil #1 in 1964, written by Stan Lee and with art by Bill Everett.

A lot of Matt’s early life made its way into both the Netflix show and the 2003 movie. But we do get an origin for his superhero name…

Proving your not a “sissy” is a great motivator for superheroics.

In the original origin, Matt’s dad doesn’t take the fall when he’s supposed to as he wants to make his son proud. I always think it’s a shame when people leave this bit out, as I think it’s one of the best tragic parts of the story.

We’ve got some enhanced senses this time through, which is way more suped up than they ever went for in the TV show.

And here’s the original yellow and red costume! It changes after only a few issues to the classic full red.

And here’s Nelson & Murdock meeting Karen Page for the first time!

As for the first time Spidey and hornhead meet, it’s not too long later in The Amazing Spider-Man #16 (1964).

In this madcap Lee & Ditko issue, Spidey is hypnotised by the Ringmaster as part of the Circus of Crime.

DD doesn’t get hypnotised like everyone else in the audience because of his blindness (god knows why Karen thought it was a good idea to invite him to the circus). Eventually DD unhypnotises SM and he does the same for the audience and they’re short-lived fight comes to an end.

Spidey first joins in on DD’s series in Daredevil #16 (1966).

It’s a wild story, to say the least. But that’s a story for another time.

That’s all for this week, folks! Make sure you check out our Patreon for more bonus episodes!
