This week we’re covering season 3, episode 11 of Spider-Man: The Animated Series – ‘Carnage’.
It’s the Carnage episode! Even though last week was basically a Carnage episode and this one is more of a Venom one! It’s a bit of a Rambo: First Blood Part 2 situation.
This episode is a non-stop train to crazytown, so after a quick foray into a gameshow of Jack’s invention, we’re talking hipster demon lairs, cosmic sibling rivalries, symbiote peer pressure and psychic exposition
This episode closes off the Carnage two-parter as Cletus racks up 6 stars in GTA, while Jack make up for their own confusion with plenty of references to The Simpsons, Book of Henry, Zardoz and Wishmaster. Just to make it even. Then we have a quick chat about that new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage… and a moment of silence for Woody Harrelson’s wig.

No proper comic origins this week as we’ll be doing a deep dive into Cletus Kasady’s comic book history in a bonus episode! Until then – check out dese gorms.
Episode Stills!
Now for some dumb and fun episode stills from everyone’s favourite 90s Spider-Man cartoon.
I feel like this one kind of sums up Spidey’s place in the superhero community. Just that guy, barely making it work, while decked-out tech warriors stand by.
Getting a little gentle spooning in before the next battle.
Okay so Venom seems to shoot out his symbiote here in the same way he does with his webs… the powers of the symbiotes in this show are all over the place.
AMERICA!
Just a quick shot of the true villain of the show: Aunt Anna.
A rare Mary Jane gorm appears!
Yeah… don’t get on Venom’s revenge list or you’ll be… manhandled.
This is just the most bizarre expression to be having in this situation, JJ.
This starts to make a lot more sense if you think of the symbiote trying to eat Eddie.
“Dear heavenly father, thank you for this gift…”
It’s not what it looks like, I swear.
There’s a lot of straight-up wrestling in this show in a goofy way that seems actually kind of realistic.
This is the mug of someone who thinks they look like Cary Grant but really really really are not Cary Grant.
Terri Lee holds her own against a space monster serial killer pretty damn well for a regular woman.
Yo what up Carnage. Come at this.
Oh.
Well this is awkward. Crushed by that damn milk billboard.
Later, Eddie is a huge moron. Again.
Yeah give me that sweet alien psycho juice!
Look at how proud he is. Carnage wins!
Carnage & Venom end up in this perfect sibling rivalry (despite being father and son technically). Though Baron Mordo is the detached father trying to get them to stop fighting for one damn second so they can go to the supermarket.
Honestly – this is an accurate reaction to the events of this insane episode.
It’s not what it looks like… again. Just let us hash this out in private, huh?
Otherwise, that’s all for this week, folks! Tune in for next episode, where we’ll be talking about the comic origins of Carnage!
