X-Men Origins: Wolverine retrospective

If you thought we didn’t want to talk about X3: The Last Stand, you ain’t seen nothing yet, Spider (and presumably Mutant) lovers!

In this edition of our Patreon Feed, Henry and Jack reach the nadir of the X-Men franchise, and pray for the sweet, sweet release of William Stryker’s amnesia bullets. Wait, is Wolverine a war criminal? What insane direction did they give to Liev Schrieber in this movie? Why is Will.I.Am? Not why is he in this movie, no; why is he a thing? At all?

At least you only have to hear us talk shit about this movie, folks. We had to watch it. Enjoy.

SLYDE’s Comic Origins

We recently talked about Slyde in our latest episode of Weird Lore Bullshit Corner, a podcast where we talk about Spider-Man’s weirdest dealings. You can find that here, or check out his origins below:

Jalome Beacher, aka SLYDE, first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #272 in 1986, written by Tom DeFalco and with art by Sal Buscema.

Weird Lore Bullshit Corner #8: SLYDE

This time we delve into Slyde aka Jalome Beacher aka Jerome Beacher aka… ah who cares.

Dreaming of a frictionless world, one disgruntled chemical engineer stumbles down a path of bank heists, mob extortion, lube and a gun-wielding incredible hulk. All will become clear, we swear…

S3E3 – Attack of the Octobot | Driving Mr. Octopus

This week we’re covering season 3, episode 3 of Spider-Man: The Animated Series – ‘Attack of the Octobot’.

Spider-Man has amnesia and Doc Ock has convinced him he’s his partner in crime. It’s a story so ridiculous it MUST be based on a comic book. It’s up to Tiana to remind Spidey of his superheroism, with cab driver Mousey in tow to dish out James Brown wisdom, bad Jamaican accents and tales of coconut wagons. Plus, the debut of a whole new segment!

Then in for our comic book origins, we’re talking two stories: first in The Amazing Spider-Man #55-56 (1968) and then we look into ASM #248 (1984).

X-Men 3 Retrospective: You won’t LAST FIVE SECONDS watching this movie

In our latest Patreon episode, we look back on X-Men 3! Well, we had a good run, didn’t we?

X-Men: The Last Stand is a bad movie, but what’s Dawn French up to these days? Handchimes are cool instruments, right? Please don’t make us talk about X-Men: The Last Stand. Listen in as Henry and Jack do everything in their power to not talk about X-Men 3: The Last Stand, and – in solidarity with this garbage movie – fail miserably. We’ll talk about a good X-Men movie next time, honest.

Actually… [checks calendar] we’ll talk about a good X-Men movie SOON.

We swear this horrendous Photoshop job will make (a little) sense once you listen to our latest episode, this time discussing X-Men: The Last Stand as part of our 20th anniversary X-Men flashback reviews!

S3E2 – Make A Wish | Octodad Wants The Whole Damn Pie

This week we’re covering season 3, episode 2 of Spider-Man: The Animated Series – ‘Make A Wish’.

Doc Ock is back on the scene after getting screwed over by the Disney Corp- uh I mean the Hardy Foundation once again, and it’s up to our hero to stop him.

Unfortunately, Spidey is down in the dumps after blowing up one too many buildings and needs a pep talk from his biggest fan, while the good doctor tries to let Kingpin down easy so he can play catch with the new love of his life: octobot junior.

One wholesome kidnapping later, and things take a turn for the worse.

S3E1 – Daddy Strange & Mr Nasty in the Cultiverse of Dadness

This week we’re covering season 3, episode 1 of Spider-Man: The Animated Series – ‘Doctor Strange’.

We’re back for a third season, and boy does it get off to an insane start.

Sci-Fi lasers are a thing of the past. Now we’ve only got time for magic eye lasers, especially when they come from Amore-Jane Watson, whose step-dad may just be Baron Mordo in disguise. He may promise the world, but his ex-wife took everything in the divorce – and we mean everything.

While Baron Bone is doing his best to summon Mr Nasty himself, the dread Dormammu, into our dimension – Spidey teams up with Doctor Strange to take him down. After all, there’s only room for one Daddy in this town, and his name ain’t Mordo.

Drunk Hot Takes: X-MEN

To follow up from our latest bonus episode on the regular feed, we’ve released our first Patreon-only Drunk Hot Takes episode. Basically, we just get drunk and talk a bunch of nonsense about a particular topic. This time, it’s X-Men.

Check it out here!

Ranking the X-MEN movies (drunk)

For our latest (and last) bonus episode during our season break, we’re offering the first episode of one of our usually-Patreon-exclusive episodes: welcome to Drunk Hot Takes!

The hosts are drunk, the takes are hot… some might say X-tremely hot. So hot you’ll burn yourself and learn a valuable lesson about listening to podcasts as recklessly stupid as this one.

This time we’re talking our own personal rankings of all the X-Men movies (other than New Mutants… stay safe true believers), as well as discussing our Top 5 Favourite and Bottom 5 Worst characters in the franchise.
