Episode 10 – VENOM | Our Big Black Friend

Face front, true believers!

This week we’re covering S1E10: ‘The Alien Costume Part Three’.

Venom is finally here to mess with Peter Parker’s life. Jack and Henry talk about the gloopy gloop stalker, the legacy he left behind, and wonder how he pays his rent. Then Batman Forever comes up, for some reason.

After our talk about the ninth episode of the series, our look at the classic symbiote costume issues takes all the way to The Amazing Spider-Man #300, where Venom made his first appearance.

Episode 9 – Mothershocker

Face front, true believers!

This week we’re covering S1E9: ‘The Alien Costume Part Two’.

We’re one step further in the symbiote saga, but while there’s plenty of Breaking Brock to go before he officially activates troll mode, there is enough time to introduce our latest supervillain jobber. The Shocker enters the fray, an after-thought from Alistair Smythe in between takes of his latest sitcom sensation, Fisky & The Smythe.

After our talk about the ninth episode of the series, we look into the origins of Shocker in The Amazing Spider-Man #46, back when he was just a safe cracker (in more ways than one). You know it, dad.

Then, we delve into how Spider-Man loses the symbiote costume in The Amazing Spider-Man #258, and how it returns to screw with his wardrobe in Web of Spider-Man #1.

Swing-Tangent – Ranking the MCU

A supposedly fun movie ranking we’ll never do again: it’s time to pit the Marvel Cinematic Universe against itself.

After running on a little longer than we thought with the previous Swing-Tangent, Henry and Jack ended up dedicating an entire episode to ranking the MCU.

Henry somehow hasn’t seen Ant-Man & the Wasp, but there’s still plenty of OPINIONS to go around about how these movies weigh up against one another. Just wait until you see who nabs the top spot on Jack’s list, and how Henry just can’t handle the truth (guess who writes these descriptions).

In this trying time, the only thing we can all agree on is that Thor: The Dark World sucks.

Swing-Tangent – Spider-Man’s Infinite Endgame

This week we’re stepping away from the animated series for a stop-off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For the first of our Swing-Tangents, we’re talking Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War – but specifically how everyone’s favourite webslinger factors into them.

The MCU finally brought its multi-film Infinity Gauntlet arc to a close, and Spider-Man was there for the finale, ready to quip, get dusted, and cry on command. Jack and Henry talk about his best moments in these two movies, his relationship with Iron Man, and what future movies will have in store for him.

Episode 8 – The Rhino Gig Economy

Face front, true believers!

This episode we’re covering S1E8: ‘The Alien Costume Part One’.

We delve into the first part of the trilogy that’ll bring us into the world of symbiotes and some of the best of the ’90s. This time Henry and Jack are distracted by Aerosmith, the Rhino is stuck in a zero-hour contract, and Kingpin just wants his bread. While the cast come together for the opening of this mini-saga, Spider-Man tries to do the right thing -but things go all John Wick 3 thanks to the Spider-Man Justice System.

Then, after our talk about the eighth episode of the series, we look into the origins of Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man #41-43, and how he eventually comes into play in the pages of The Incredible Hulk. Then, we touch on the alien costume from the comics with a look back to Secret Wars #8.

S1E7 – Jungle Music Intensifies | Kraven The Hunter

Face front, true believers!

This episode we’re covering S1E7: ‘Kraven the Hunter’.

We delve into what is the most ridiculous episode of the series yet, with one Russian jungle-themed maniac called Kraven. Henry is in love with him, Robbie Robertson is confused by him, and Jack is too busy wondering how Zero Waste Blanka fits into all of this.

Then, after our talk about the seventh episode of the series, we look into the origins of Kraven in The Amazing Spider-Man #15. Then we touch on Sony’s plans for a cinematic universe, and Henry pitches a Kraven movie that might just work…

Episode 6 – Everybody Hates the Scorpion

Face front, true believers!

This episode we’re covering S1E6: ‘The Sting of the Scorpion’.

Wherever Mac ‘MRA’ Gargan goes, insults and injustice follow. Is this cruel and unfair? Yes. Does he deserve this? The answer is also yes.

His monkey paw wish to become one of Spider-Man’s greatest villains doesn’t exactly work out well for him, so he’s left with the curse of being dunked by everyone he meets, including the extra-dimensional beings recording a podcast about him. Robbie Robertson on the other hand… is a father figure to us all.

Meanwhile, we find out why Jonah hates Spider-Man so much, what millennial invention can be credited to Peter Parker, and discuss the insurance policies of the frequently-exploding Oscorp.

Then, after our talk about the sixth episode of the series, we look into the origins of Scorpion in The Amazing Spider-Man #20!

Episode 5 – Everybody Loves Mysterio

Face front, true believers!

This episode we’re covering S1E5: ‘The Menace of Mysterio’.

Jack loves Mysterio. Henry loves Mysterio. Mysterio definitely loves Mysterio.

Now that we’re all on the same page, we can finally talk about Uncle Ben, John Cusack, and DynoMutt, Dog Wonder. Aside from the rabbit hole of the dog superheroes wikipedia category, we can discuss martian worker’s rights laws and ask: Is there anything J Jonah Jameson WON’T fund?

Is it a sex thing? That’s the question posed by this episode. And answered. Immediately. It’s NOT a sex thing.
